Many users of Vista have only complained, and Cherry said education should be part of the campaign at some level. If a parallel campaign taught vendors how to help consumers select the right PC to use Vista, he said, it could be a winner.“I believe that the number-one element as to whether or not you will have a good Vista experience is whether or not you bought adequate hardware to run it,” Cherry said. “I believe for people who bought a machine that’s truly sized to run the edition of Vista that they selected, Vista offers a good experience.”
But, isn’t this the fundamental rub when it comes to Mac versus PC? With Macs, you don’t have to think about what machine will “run” the Operating System, with PCs you do. With a Mac, when you buy the machine, you know it just works. It’s kind of like buying a new car and having to ask if the engine in it will be enough to drive it, much less power the radio, A/C, airbags, etc. Don’t you just kind of assume the engine they install at the plant will be sufficient for the task, otherwise, why else would they put that engine in the car?
Life on a Mac is just so much simpler, which frees you up to spend time on your life, unless of course you’re in that 0.1% of the population that enjoys tuning their PC, then by all means by a PC.
