Taxes and Identity Theft

With all the concern from the federal gov’t etc. over identity theft, could someone please tell me why I am writing my social security number on the checks that I mail the government to pay my taxes?

There are many ways that people can steal our identity. One, many people don’t own a shredder. Use it. And second, be carefull about who and where you place your information.

I refuse to write my social security number down on IRS checks. Somehow, they can figure out my SS# and still cash my checks ;-)

I think the IRS is still operating by the standards of the 20th century. Identity theft via social security number could probably be avoided if institutions such as the Internal Revenue Service update their operation.

    My 2 Cents
