Dang.  Had to buy a copy of Windows Vista today so I can test on it (don’t worry, I won’t develop on it).  The whole purchase makes me feel like a criminal, and I did everything right, what with all the anti-piracy “protections” and the phone home effects.

And then there is the whole question of which version to buy.  My god, why do you Window’s people put up with all of this?  Let’s see there was “Ultimate, Business, Home Premium, Home Basic”  Seems like there should be some other niches that haven’t been covered:  Home w/ Young Kids, Home with Teenagers, Home for Grandparents, Home Blue Collar Edition, Home Premium Mafia Edition (comes w/ extra encryption).  With Apple, you get Leopard and it has all the capabilities of Vista Ultimate and it is way cheaper and easier to use.   Time Machine alone is reason enough to buy Leopard.
