Apple iTunes Rentals

Trying my first iTunes rental today.  The convenience is awesome, but I can tell already there is one thing I don’t like.  Say I am traveling and I have a 3 day trip which starts with a 1-2 plane ride.  If, as is my desire, I want to watch the movie on the plane, I may only get through part of it and wish to finish it on the flight back.  As an alternate, valid scenario.  Suppose I watch it on my trip and when I get home I tell my wife she has got to see it.  However, once the movie is started, one only has 24 hours to view it, thus I will not be able to finish it on the flight back.  Seems kind of silly to me.  It’s not like the movie is at at more risk for being hacked or something if I get to watch it more than once in some large window of days.  If you really want to compete with Netflix, why not just let me view it at any time during that 30 day period?  After all, Netflix covers both of the scenarios above.   Doesn’t really add up.  Where’s the lost revenue?   The only real cost being incurred is the download cost, which is marginal at best.  So, once you have my $4, let me watch it as much as I want in that 30 day window (or, even make it a 15 day window, just something long enough to cover some of the likely scenarios one might encounter.)  Finally, if I don’t finish the movie, the likelihood of me paying another $4 to finish it is not that high.
