Asheville Vacation Rentals - Asheville Cottages
Well, the Fam and I just got back from a long weekend stay at Asheville Cottages in Asheville, NC. All in all, it was a great weekend. We hiked at Chimney Rock, toured the Biltmore and downtown Asheville (Salsa’s is a great restaurant) and generally just relaxed and enjoyed Christmas at this nice little cottage. We will definitely be going back.
The cottage we stayed in (the “Rosewood”) was well appointed and reasonably priced. Almost all the little details were accounted for, including a Christmas tree already decorated. The hot tub was relaxing and the bed had just the right amount of comfort (I hate beds that are too soft.) The kitchen has all the utensils, etc. that one needs and the owners even left us a nice basket of food items (oatmeal, tea, candy bars, etc.)
There were only three negatives in my mind, all of which were completely outweighed by the numerous positives:
- The floors are hardwoods and thus tend to carry a lot of noise, including from the other “half” of the cottage (luckily it was unoccupied most of the time we were there.) Adding a few rugs on both sides would help solve the problem of hearing people walking around, especially later at night when you are trying to sleep. This is not too say it was too noisy, just saying this simple addition would make it that much better.
- I didn’t see any means for recycling. I can’t imagine a city like Asheville doesn’t have a recycling program. And I certainly don’t think it is too much to ask of guests to recycle.
- Similar to my post on Atlanta, Asheville and most of NC is in a severe drought. Just as all of the citizens of the south are being asked to conserve water, I think all hotels, inns, cottages, etc. should be asking their guests to conserve water as well. This doesn’t have to equate to not using any water, just ask people to use less water (shorter showers, turn off the water when brushing, etc.)
At any rate, the place was great and the location was excellent and I highly recommend it (except for those time when we want to stay there.)

We went to see Thomas Wolfe memorial home and took a tour in Arboretum a month ago. As for vacation rental home, it is pretty hard to find good place where you love everything, this is why if you found it once, keep coming.
