Google to bid for wireless spectrum - Yahoo! News

I’ve been a bit down on Google in the recent past (too big, too much of our data in one place, etc.), but I think this is a good thing for the wireless market and consumers.  Since I went to a pay as you go plan, I have felt free from the entrapments of Verizon and the various other monopoly like wireless carriers.  So, adding Google to the mix, just as Apple did w/ the iPhone, should shake up an otherwise boring industry which can’t seem to figure out a way to get together on standards like Europe has and give the consumer more flexibility and competition.
