Ode To Duct Tape
Duct tape is, perhaps the greatest invention of all time. I was out backpacking (see the Little Lost Cove Cliffs trip) w/ my son last weekend. I hadn’t worn these boots in a while, but they looked good when we left. Half way into the hike, I started to feel something weird. I look down, and I could see that the soles were rotting out. Duct tape is on my list of must pack items, so I pulled out my roll and wrapped up my boots enough to get through the rest of the trip without losing the bottom of my boots. Unfortunately, the boots are headed for the great hiking trail in the sky, since the cobbler said they were beyond repair (they were about 10 years old). Sweet! Time for new hiking gear!

Duct tape has definitely saved me many a time on hiking trips. But you’re right, it’s so much fun to buy new hiking gear.

We use the reflective trail markers we sell on our site and have done so for over 10 years. We and friends use them for multiple purposes to be able to locate anything we wish in low light situations with very simple light sources. It makes a hike in early morning or late into the afternoon that may take you deep into the wilderness of the local national forest or the plot of land behing the house a little more enjoyable and alot more secure knowing it will be easy to find your way back out.
