PETA tells NFL to ‘Sack Vick’ - Yahoo! News
Don’t get me wrong, I am not defending Michael Vick one iota, because if he did what he is accused of, he should be in jail, but could we please, please, please, just once, let someone go to trial before we all hang them in the court of public opinion? Did we not learn anything from the Duke Lacrosse case? Could we just once let the prosecutors, defense attorneys, jurors and judges do their job when it comes to these high profile cases? Regardless of his guilt, Vick is an American citizen and has a right to due process. Wouldn’t you want the same if it was you? Do you really think it is right to fire someone from a job because they have been accused of a crime? It is a nasty, legal slope you head down when you do, because what happens when the facts don’t pan out? That’s right, you get civil suits by the defendant and firings on the other side of the coin. If only cooler heads would prevail, we could avoid all this excess litigation and let the justice system do what it was designed to do.
