Eating Right while Traveling
If you are an athlete, you know the importance of nutrition in your training program. If you are like me and also like to travel, you know how hard it is to find good, healthy food while on the road.
At least, it used to be hard. Now we bring Nikki and David Goldbeck’s “Healthy Highways” (Buy from Amazon) book along with us on every trip. It covers every state in the country and has pretty clear directions to a variety of places, ranging from the fantastic Whole Foods grocery to little mom and pop restaurants where they know the importance of eating right. I can only vouch for the East Coast entries, so maybe some people on the West Coast can comment, but most of them are quite good. The author’s do a great job of telling you what types of food they serve (very vegan friendly, even though I am not a vegan.) and how to get there. I would say we have visited roughly 30 - 40 of the places in the book and have only gotten off track once. The book also has phone numbers for the stores, so it is quite simple to call and get directions.
