ApacheCon sidebars

One of the cooler things for me at ApacheCon not relating to the actual conference was getting a headshot done by Julian Cash, as an amateur photographer it is always interesting for me to talk with a professional photographer who is willing to discuss their trade. Julian was great, and I think he did some really interesting things painting with light that I have read about, but not seen done in person. I’ll put the links up to the images when Julian does.

Also got to test drive a Segway. Do you remember all the buzz and hype? Appearances on the Today show, etc. While the device is pretty cool, it still felt like a toy and all of that buzz, in my opinion, was a sample of good marketing and not so much of something that I would want. Call me old fashioned, but I will take my bike (mt. or road) any day. I don’t know about you, but I prefer human powered transport more and more each day. Give me my running shoes or a bike and I am happy, thank you very much
